20th January 23: GMC ‘finds’ a “summary of your complaint and our decision”: Allegation: The complainant initially contacted us in September 1999. His allegations were unclear. It appears that the complainant attended a meeting/hearing in relation to his employment as a teacher. He states that the doctor made an attempt to discredit him and asked him if his exercise books were marked. Decision: This enquiry has been closed. The complainant was asked for further information on more than one occasion but no response was received, so the matter was closed. Over three years later, the complainant sent in further correspondence but he was advised that he had not provided any further information that would allow us to consider the complaint; he was advised of this several times. The complainant contacted us again in 2006, even coming to our office in person, but he was again advised that he had not provided us with any information or evidence that would allow us to take any further action. DA Response, 21st January: Dear Sean, I remain very disappointed with the GMC's response; the Council maintains that insufficient evidence of misconduct has been presented, whereas my position is that Dr Turner's vow, with witnesses, that I "never work again" demonstrates a clear wish to apply her powers in a rash and entirely inappropriate manner - a 'cognitive failure' is very likely. The GMC appears to be yet another corrupt British public institution - do rectify the situation. DWAustin 28th March 2024 – GMC clarify their position: “I am sorry that you disagree with our decision, but no fitness to practise concerns were identified when you made your complaint when Dr Turner was on the register. Therefore, no further action was taken against Dr Turner at that time.” Seems we must add this to the increasing list of British scandals.
